Latin America at the Forefront of Digital Assets:El Salvador and Bolivia in Mutual Cooperation for the Development of Cryptoassets

Bolivia, July 30, 2025

As part of the agreement signed between the CNAD and the BCB, the following commitments stand out: promoting the exchange of experiences and knowledge—both technical and regulatory—in this field. This includes key topics such as digital asset traceability, the use of blockchain intelligence tools, risk analysis, among others, within their respective areas of competence.

The document was signed by Juan Carlos Reyes García, President of the CNAD, and Dr. Edwin Rojas Ulo, President of the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB).

The use of cryptoassets in Bolivia has been significant. In the first year since the BCB implemented the use of Virtual Assets (VAs), volume increased from $46.5 million in June 2024 to $294 million in June 2025.
